The goal of the design process was to cause minimum hindrance to the occupants and the work environment, as it was an operational site, while ensuring that the vision was not compromised.
The design is conducive for collaboration at every level of the organisation and helps bring people together. Work desks without divider screens are used to improve visual connect between the users.
Management team is spread-out within the open office space in an intentional attempt to make it a non-hierarchical & collective work environment. Spaces are designed with various sized huddle rooms which are distributed through the floor for interactions either formal or informal in nature. Variety of furniture and design aspects foster Incidental & stand-up discussions. Users are provided with a choice of work environment be it causal via a café work lounge, high stool furniture towards the glazing area and soft furniture lounges or formal via the huddle rooms. The open office concept has been taken a step further by providing employees the freedom to choose their workspace based on their day to day needs. The entire design is then tied together with cutting-edge technology to enable people to be a part of the work community irrespective of their geographical locations. The technical and aesthetic aspects of the design have been derived with sustainable and recyclable material choices such as natural wood, green walls, low VOC paints, along with active and passive technology in electrical & HVAC to minimise the energy consumption and environmental impact. These features enable the office to achieve a targeted platinum LEED rating. The client brand identity is highlighted through the overall planning to reflect their ethos and accentuated through the choice of visual graphics, colours and mission statements.
The designed space was able to achieve the desired open office concept with a balance of the “ME” and “WE” time, not just in the form of planning but also on the visual feel of the office. The combination between the various spatial treatments and the user group has culminated in a harmonious work environment. The human centric design has resulted in the individual’s physical and emotional wellbeing while enhancing the work.
